Bio
Matt Boroff is an American-born, Austrian-based musician, singer, songwriter, snake charmer and poet with one foot in the gutter and the other on the moon. Now Boroff has teamed up with veteran musicians Alain Johannes (Queens of the Stone Age, Them Crooked Vultures) and Jack Irons (Pearl Jam, Red Hot Chili Peppers) to break new ground on his latest effort, “Grand Delusion”. Live he's performing amongst others with Medina Rekic (White Miles), Alex Kerbl (Milk+) and Little Konzett (Little Big Beat Studios).
Boroff spent much of the Nineties performing across the northeast and playing solo gigs in New York City. Throughout the years he's shared the stage with many well-known acts such as Nirvana, Bad Brains, Kyuss, Queens of the Stone Age, BRMC and more. In 2000, he moved to Austria, where he continued to expand the boundaries of alternative music with such far-flung influences as West Coast punk and the Spaghetti Western soundtracks of Ennio Morricone. After contributing music to the 2009 indie film “Little Fish, Strange Pond,” Boroff explored a more orchestral feel on his solo debut, “Reaching for Sparks,” inviting comparisons to the likes of Iron & Wine and Nick Drake. The four-song EP “Filling in the Cracks” and full-length “Sweet Hand of Fate” followed, further showcasing Boroff’s knack for creating captivating music across a variety of styles.
